Abstract:
In the design of domestic civil buildings, the electrical discipline is required to receive design inputs from multiple other disciplines, which significantly compresses the already limited electrical design cycle within the overall project schedule. As the volume of passively received design inputs increases, the extent of design revisions for the electrical system grows correspondingly. A substantial portion of the workload in both the initial design and subsequent revision phases involves electrical load calculation. Although Revit, which is widely adopted both domestically and internationally, supports automated load calculation, its native functionality cannot be directly applied to calculations compliant with Chinese design codes. Through a comparative analysis of the electrical system calculation methods in Revit and those prescribed by Chinese standards, this study identifies their similarities and discrepancies. Leveraging the capabilities of Revit, a secondary development workflow is established to enable automated load calculations for power, lighting, and supply-distribution systems in accordance with Chinese standards. The proposed method not only effectively reduces repetitive mechanical work and improves efficiency, allowing electrical engineers to devote greater attention to design quality, but also lays the groundwork for future research on the automated generation of electrical system diagrams.
