Abstract:
Accompany with China's economic dramatic growth, construction industry of china has experienced huge leverage. Chinese construction enterprise, one of the main participants in the industry, has also received a golden chance of development and expansion. There are more and more enterprises have gone out of the national boundary to pursue further growth and prosperity in the international market. In order to help their expansion in the international market more efficiently, an evaluation framework of construction enterprise's international performance was formulated on the basis of Balance Scorecard. Then, a case study was conducted to illustrate the application of evaluation system. In the case study, a Chinese construction firm and other four top international construction firms were selected to carry out comparison analysis. The findings provide an insight into the weakness that influence in-ternational development of Chinese construction enterprises and also help practitioners to timely adjust their strategy of international operation to ensure international business success.

Abstract:
Enterprise Data Center is the master control center of the data information and business application system. It offers an integrated business support platform for an enterprise. In building the storage system of an en-terprise data center, many types of storage technologies and associated equipment will be provided for selection. Since the cost budget of information system building is limited in engineering and survey enterprises, it is always a challenge in the building of a data center to select a data storage system with large volume, flexible extensibility and high safety in a rational way. This article introduces how China Electronics Engineering Design Institute has devel-oped and built a practicable and reliable data storage system with high cost performance for centralized storage and backup management by the application of IP SAN storage infrastructure as well as the information system manage-ment platform development by itself.

This paper aims to provide insight into the area of mobile computing in construction, and help construction personnel to understand and accept these new technolo-gies. This paper introduces the concept of mobile computing and discusses the use of mobile computing on construc-tion sites. It then analyses the potential, advantages and challenges in using mobile computing on construction sites. Finally, this paper provides a vision for the future research of using mobile computing in construction.

2010, 2(1): 36-40.
[Abstract](1230) [FullText HTML] (649) [PDF 2125KB](9)
Abstract:
A new approach of parametric design was named Variational design, which has high efficiency in structure design modifications consisting of simple elements such as points, straight lines and arcs. The article mainly introduced VDS modules in CCD. VDS provides the ability to assign parametric constraints to geometric ele-ments. By defining the parameters and calculating equation and constraints, the drawings in different views can be co-variation with dimensions changing. There was also a case of the bio-reaction tank design with VDS to illustrate the function of Variational design and CCD in details.

[Abstract](925) [FullText HTML] (581) [PDF 3581KB](19)
Abstract:
There is almost no doubt that BIM will become the key technology of AEC (Architecture, Engineer?ing and Construction) industry for next stage. In comparison with CAD, BIM1 is transforming both tools and contents of facility building and operation.Accordingly it's more difficult and complex to understand and implement BIM than CAD.On the other handBIM is expectedto have broader anddeeper impact on the industry. Here the author is trying to provide an answer on the question of " What is BIM" from three aspects: the position of BIM in AEC, howto measure a BIM project and the potential uses of BIM.
