Abstract: BIM technology brings huge economic and social benefits to the development of the construction industry. However, BIM industry involves many fields of knowledge. Various government departments, scientific research institutions, and industry associations have successively compiled and issued their own BIM standards, resulting in the lacking or duplication of some contents of the standard documents. This paper uses BIM knowledge content (BKC) classification to analyze 61 BIM standards from China, USA and UK, then applies the content analysis method to analyze in depth the availability and distribution of BIM knowledge in the BIM standard, to determine the knowledge gap in the standard, and finally to point out the direction of future research and the supplementary standards.
