Abstract: The application of BIM in the automatic examination and approval of construction projects has always been a hot issue at the level of academia, industry and even government, research in this field is very important to guide the development of approval platform based on BIM for construction projects. This paper reviews the practice of BIM compliance review of construction projects in Singapore, South Korea, and the United States, and identifies the main challenges faced by BIM-based automatic compliance checking, including the rule interpretation, the quality control of BIM from the whole life cycle, and the data integration management of the unified standard. By learning the international advanced experience, some suggestions were provided for the innovation of approval platform based on BIM for construction projects in our country.
