It is common at present in sutructrual designing area that the models built in the computing softwares are transmitted into the BIM softwares, which reduces the BIM structural designing efficiency compared with adopting AutoCAD. It is necessary for structural design and plug-in development to create a structural model in BIM software and then to transmit into computing software. This paper takes the transmission of a model of frame and bent structure from Revit to STAAD.Pro as an example, to study some noticeable issues in Revit modeling and writing Revit data into*.std file, based on which we propose corresponding processing method and the improvemnt suggestions for Revit, STAAD.Pro & SSDD.

Nowadays, with the limitations of tranmission softwares unable to transmit models from Revit into computing softwares accurately and efficiently, the efficiency of structural design is reduced significantly when adopting BIM design. Based on the frane and bent structure of thermal power plant building.this paper analyses the design flow and functional features of Revit, put forward a new solution of linking up Revit 2016 and STAAD.Pro, and proposes suggestions for perfection in Revit.
