Using BIM in construction projects can achieve huge benefits. In recent years, the facilitation of BIM has been widely improved in various countries. At present, BIM is mainly used in the design and construction phase of China's railway projects, and this does not reflect the true value of BIM. This paper discusses the characteristics of operation-oriented applications in BIM-based railway projects, and also studies the operation-oriented applications include an organization mode that lead by operation department and BIM consultation team; an operation-oriented hybrid system that involves multi-platform and various linked systems; and a collaborative workspace named IROOM. By comparing the conventional BIM applications, the operation-oriented application proposed in this paper considers the needs of lifecycle management on railway projects. It uses an operation-oriented method to regulate the design and construction phases, this in turns promote the use of BIM in railway projects. This paper provides a useful reference on the information integration in BIM-based railway projects.

It has been already 10 years since BIM technology was used in the construction of venues for the Beijing Olympic Games.Although BIM technology has been vigorously promoted by the government and widely publicized by the industry, there were merely fewer than 5000 construction projects (about 6‰ of all projects) in 2018 adopted the BIM technology.Following the concept of business process reengineering, this paper reviews the development of BIM technology in construction industry by using OKR model and combing BIM technology from the source.At last, according to the review results, the direction and suggestions for further research on BIM technology are put forward for the future consideration and research.

Building information modeling (BIM) has been regarded worldwide as an effective tool to integrate design and construction processes and thus to address the performance problems in the construction industry, but the realization of its value still faces a variety of technical, process-related, organizational and cultural barriers. Based on the discussions on BIM application practices worldwide and the diffusion process of the Two-Dimensional Computer-Aided Design (2D CAD) technology in the Chinese construction industry, this paper analyzes the diffusion characteristics of BIM in the construction industry, and proposes some BIM application strategies for design and construction enterprises in China. In order to better realize the potential benefits of BIM, design and construction enterprises need to balance the implementations of the cost advantage strategy and the differentiation strategy, and to forgo the "mindlessness" during the BIM adoption and implementation process. Design and construction enterprises are also suggested to establish multi-stage BIM application aims, to plan systemic BIM application solutions, and to effectively integrate enterprise business processes and project processes.
