The system theory is applied to construct the BIM application project system project. Through the analysis of relationship among different variables, the stock flow graph is drawn to simulate and measure the economic benefits of BIM application in projects. The Vensim software is applied to draw the inventory flow graph and to test the model. According to the analysis on actual application of the project, the project data is extracted, and the Vensim software is applied to conduct simulation to obtain the benefit of BIM application in projects with more reasonable calculation process and more accurate calculation result. Influencing factors, including engineering cost, engineering error rate, engineering rework rate, working hours, working intensity, fatigue, management assistance, and etc., are all selected to compare and analyze the data of projects without applying BIM technology, and to analyze the impact of projects with BIM application, verifying the rationality and feasibility of the model.

As a newly emerged technology, the BIM technology still possesses many uncertain factors or uncertain trends in the future. Under the background of BIM application in the whole industry, it is generally believed in the whole industry that BIM technology can bring higher economic value, which, however, lacks of strong support of evaluation system. Based on the characteristics of BIM technology, this paper determines the performance evaluation index through integrated methods of questionnaire survey and literature induction, and also establishes a performance evaluation system of engineering projects of BIM technology by using the analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The established BIM project performance evaluation system is then applied in a BIM pilot project which has completed acceptance to conclude comprehensive evaluations of the performance of the project.

Traditional approachof 2D design and construction management no longermeets the increasingly complex needs of the pit engineering, while the emergence of BIM technology provides technical support to address these issues, and also provides a new way to verify the safety of the foundation pit support structure whencombined with the finite element analysis. This paper presents a foundation pit engineering example that the BIM technology is introduced and the BIM foundation pit support model is established by CATIA. Also, Navisworks is applied for foundation pit construction simulation. This paper analyzesseveral methods for the combination of CATIA and finite element, and applies ABAQUS, a finite element analysis software, to verify the stability of foundation pit support structure.Practical engineering application shows that theBIM technology combined with the finite element analysis, is of great application valuein practical foundation pit engineering.

In recent years, the application and popularization of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology have been severely limited by information island issue, which is resulted for complex problems, such as the design and construction separation, modeling repetition, lacking of overall life cycle management, etc. For the reasons above, combing with examples of project development, this paper proposed a BIM-based construction information management platform collecting all data of the BIM models during the whole management period. The construction of the platform involves the application of BIM modeling technology, computer programming technology, internet technology, and etc. On this platform, the information-island problem can be solved, and real-time collaboration of BIM technology can be realized in the construction stage. Moreover, this paper provides an idea of new method for the BIM development and application.

The government-level BIM-based public service platform of the Yangpu District in Shanghai is the first management platform applying the BIM technology in the industry that combines the BIM project group management with the GIS and cloud computing technology to serve for the government departments. The data platform, based on the BIM data of the pilot project in Yangpu District, integrates the BIM informational management to the platform, with the expert platform supplemented and the joint meeting platform guided. This platform not only promotes the development and application of BIM technology in Yangpu District, but also provides a good direction for building enterprises to use BIM technology.

In the teaching of construction technology of urban underground engineering, image spatial representation and teaching demonstration tools are needed when it involves unusual architectural space and the construction process which is difficult to express. BIM can provide excellent information communication and expression ability and can be applied to the teaching practice of construction technology of urban underground engineering. Urban underground engineering components are classified and viewed effectively by embedding Unity3D engine to Winform; urban underground space roaming program has been developed by Navisworks API, which realizes virtual space roaming under the gravity. And a demo player for construction process is developed. The conclusion has certain significance on the teaching of construction technology of urban underground engineering.
