The Industry Foundation Class (IFC) is an international standard which describes building and construction industry data. IFC has been widely developed and applied in architecture fields, but has relatively less research on alignment-based infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and tunnels, which hinders the data sharing in these areas. In this paper, methodologies to describe the spatial location, geometry and other attributes of bridge superstructures based on IFC4x1 schema are introduced. This paper also presents an approach to map data from IFC to MIDAS Civil. Additionally, a prototype is developed based on the open-source library XbimEssentials to verify the approach presented.

The integrated platform of 3D co-design in water resource and hydropower project developed by our company is applied in Pakistan Karot hydropower project, which integrates multiple professionals of surveying, geology, hydraulic engineering, mechanical and electric engineering, and construction site layouts. The platform integrates the traditional mode of investigation and design, and establishes a multi-professional 3D survey and design model. During the research stage in engineering survey and design, the plateform is also able to develop multi-dimensional professional work including digital data collecting of geology on site, indoor geological database management, comparison and justification of schemes, accurate modeling and analysis of hydraulic parameters, automatic statistic of quantities, 3D reinforcing, 2D drawing and emulation of work process, thus to provide better quality design products and consulting services for owners.

Construction phase takes longer time in the whole life circle of buildings, and it's also the most influential phase to the project quality. There are many problems in this phase, leading to heavy information loss and low transmission efficiency during construction. The first part of this paper explains the meaning of information management and current problems in construction project, while the latter part briefly analyzes how to integrate all kinds of information during construction into a model so as to form a 4D information model and serve information management.
