BIM Server provides a solution for BIM to support construction life cycle. Currently, the structure of BIM Server is C/S, but gradually B/S also shows its advantages. The release of the HTML5 standard brings the WebGL technology which supports hardware graphics acceleration in browser and is one of a series of revolutionary Web technologies. Thereby the foundation is laid for achieving Web-oriented BIM information management and 3D display of BIM model. In this paper, the model information scope and its expression of Web-oriented BIM is analyzed, and the corresponding information management technology and the BIM model display based on the Three.js, which is a WebGL framework, are studied. Then, a WebGL-based platform for 3D display and information management of BIM is also developed. Application shows that the graphics platform of the platform performs stable with nice rendering for large BIM. Meanwhile the platform provides rich feature supports for Web client by favorable interactive functions, showing a great application value.

2013,5(6):1-5,6.
In last ten years, building information modeling (BIM) has been rapid development. However, there are still few technologies and applications to support BIM data storage and sharing during building lifecycle. Therefore, a clouding-computing-based BIM data integration and service technology is proposed by this research. It adopts Hbase (a kind of NoSql database) to store massive BIM data on distributed nodes, which are integrated virtually by a clouding computing platform, so that all participants could get their required BIM data with a uniform interface. As one of its most import modules, a semi-structured BIM database is described in detail in this paper. By combing with attributes of Hbase and IFC model, the database addresses many problems, such as space waste due to sparse of IFC model, and lots of join calculations during information query. It's also more efficient and extensible than existed BIM databases. As a conclusion, this database sets a good foundation for clouding-computing-based BIM data integration and service technology, and is valuable for BIM application.

2015,7(3):16-21.
Large amount of information in construction projects is still stored in unstructured documents nowadays. This research focuses on the correlation mechanism between unstructured information with highly structured BIM model, realizing BIM-based retrieval of unstructured information and improving the using efficiency. Title-based and content-based automatic correlation mechanisms are provided, capable of searching correlated entities through selected document, calculating correlation index and ranking and establishing the correlation after users' confirmation. A case-study shows that if entities are well named and expressions in the document match the model, this method is able to recall all the correlated entities, ranking at the top of the list. Correlated document can also be queried dynamically based on BIM model.

2009,1(2):55-62.
To overcome the shortcomings of commercial virtual simulation software including the need of high hardware configuration, expensive price and function shortage in secondary development, an OpenGL-based construction virtual simulation platform was studied and developed based on existed graphic engine of 4D-GCPSU. Its main features include reality rendering of 3D model by processing material, texture, lighting etc. 3D dynamic simulation and animation display with double buffer technique, creating and controlling of virtual scene with human-computer interaction technology. The platform has been applied and tested in practice engineering projects and can produce high quality 3D realistics model and 3D animations. It can be adopted in the development of 4D virtual construction and dynamic management systems. Therefore, the platform is of practical application value.

Methodology of 3D Geometric Modeling and Model Conversion of IFC-based BIM
Zhang Jianping, Zhang Yang, Zhang Xin
2009,1(1):40-46.
Contrast to the traditional paper-based information representation methodology which uses 2D graphic primitive elements such as point, line, face etc., the application of 3D digital technologies in A/E/C(Architec-ture/Engineering/Construction) domain significantly improves the efficiency of construction information communications and has become a key technical support of BIM (Building Information Modeling). The various types of 3D geometric representations can be classified into solid model, surface model and framework model, each of which can be applicable in specified application areas and scope. To meet the requirements of BIM applications in different phases of A/E/C, a methodology of 3D solid modeling and converting it into surface model of IFC-based BIM is proposed in this paper, which adopts AutoCAD graphic engine. Its feasibility is verified by some tests.

A Modeling Technology of integrated BIM for Building Lifecycle
Zhang Jianping, Yu Fangqiang, Li Ding
2012,4(1):6-14.
BIM technologies and tools are developed very fast these years, which provide an effective and efficient method to solve the "segment"problem in building industry. However, since data exchange is still mostly based on files, an integrated BIM containing all the information of multi-disciplinary can't be constructed, so that much value of a BIM is hard to achieve. For constructing an integrated BIM, this paper proposes a framework of the modeling technology for integrated BIM, which enables integrating information generated in difference phases dynamically. The framework includes architecture, modeling flows, deployment framework and key technologies needed to be solved. After that, a prototype system of BIM data integration and server platform (BIMDISP, a BIM Server) is developed. Then a real word project is applied in the BIMDISP to test performance of the modeling technology. As a conclusion, the modeling technology proposed is feasible to support integration, management and sharing of all the building information, so as to generate an integrated BIM.

Research on IFC-based Data Description Standards in Construction
Wang Yong, Zhang Jianping, Hu Zhenzhong
2011,3(4):9-15.
The Industry Foundation Classes(IFC) developed by International Alliance for Interoperability(IAI) has been known as a common product model for data exchange and model sharing. In architecture design, entity types and property sets in IFCs are nearly enough to meet the needs. However, in the construction, entity types are insufficient for data description. Therefore, we analyses the demand for data description in construction in mainland China, and extend the IFC model. At last, we test the extension model by some real projects and give some suggestions for further research.

Wang Yong, Zhang Jianping, Li Jiulin
2014,6(4):30-35.
Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) has been known as an international common product model for Building Information Model (BIM) exchange and sharing in building field. With the purpose of solving the problem of model sharing between structural design and other application followed, the IFC is introduced into the structural working drawing field. Combining the demand for data description, an IFC extension model was established through entity extension and property extension. The extension model was verified by BIM-based structural drawing design prototype system in a test project. The research shows that extended IFCs is suitable for BIM model description in structural working drawing. Automatic model exchange is realized between structural working drawing and quantity survey by the extended IFCs.
